A great display by the lads today, saw us overturn last seasons 5-1 defeat against CHIBIRBELEK FC.
In a game dominated by the Lads, we were always in control of the game, and this just proved how far we have improved after the heavy defeat against Chibirbelek last season, even though the half-time score was 0-0, we had a goal disallowed for a marginal offside, and had 3 clear cut chances where we should have scored.
At the other end of the pitch our keeper MBURU was never tested.
As the 2nd half got underway we continued to pressure their goal, and only 3 mins into the half we were awarded a penalty for a handball, which PHILO scored sending their keeper the wrong way (1-0)
Straight from the resuming kick-off we won the ball back and CAPT JOSE raced clear to shoot just wide.
As the half went on we peppered their goal and a wonder save by their keeper denied CAPT JOSE.
Even though this game only ended 1-0 in our favour it was a comfortable victory, in which our keeper MBURU never had a save to make.
We continue in our aim for a 4th promotion this season, and todays result means that we will certainly go joint top of the league, and depending on other results we could possibly top the table.
In a very tough division our boys are proving that they can hold their own against any opposition.
PHILO now already has 4 goals in 3 games.
Following todays game our under 17’s academy had an in-house friendly against our newly formed ladies team the SUNDERLAND AFC STARLETS, as the STARLETS played their 1st ever game together, and even though the under 17’s won 1-0 our ladies put up a great display.
Then our Wazee team took on Victory FC from Karagita, with our “Old men” winning 2-0.
