HUGE CLUB ANNOUNCEMENT,
After 14yrs of dedication to Sunderland AFC Naivasha, (formerly Sunderland AFC Keroche), President Gary Lamb and Vice President John Eilbeck are retiring their roles with the club.
This has been an amazing journey over 14yrs, where a project which we initially thought, was to help a small village team based in the village of Karai, on the outskirts of Naivasha Kenya, became something much bigger, and taking up a lot of our spare time.
In the early years, with our friend Alan Scott, we turned a village team into a force to be reckoned with, achieving much more than we could ever have dreamed of, including the following;-
4 promotions (All the way up to the Kenyan National Division 1)
& winning a total of 32 cups and tournaments.
BUT!!!!
We also achieved much more off the pitch which included:-
Installing a fresh clean water supply to Karai primary school.
Donating full kits to over 100 sporting organisations, including, schools, local academy's, football teams, basketball & volleyball teams ETC. ETC.
Excavating, and completely building a full size football pitch.
Installing a full training circuit.
Donating school supplies to Karai primary School.
Funding school fess, to some of the less fortunate parents of pupils of Karai primary school.
Supplying donated clothing, shoes and bedding to the less fortunate families, in and around Karai.
Reducing crime amongst the youth of Karai village.
Hosting UK visitors.
Over 10,000 facebook followers.
The list goes on and on.
We have made many friends on our visits to Naivasha, (to many to mention them all by name)
But!!!
All good things must finally come to an end, as last year I personally had a major accident while in Kenya, resulting in a dislocated Kneecap, and a complete severence of my main tendon in my left leg (Resulting in having to retire from work early). Then in January 2025 Vice President John Eilbeck suffered a stroke, and this really brought home, that we really need to spend more time with our own families, because you never know what tomorrow brings.
May we take this opportunity to thank EVERYONE who has supported us over the last 14yrs, including Main Sponsors, player sponsors, all the local UK clubs who donated their 2nd hand kits and boots, along with all the vast number of individuals, who donated all kinds of items, along with the numerous soldiers at the UK army camp in Kenya, who accepted all the boxed donations, to pass onto our club.
On the Kenyan side, we give special thanks to CAPTAIN JOSE (Without whose help, none of this would have been possible), also thanks to the many players, coaches, kit men, pitch maintenance helpers, and local MP's Hon. Jayne Kihara, MP along with MP Alex.
The remaing money in the team account, has now been forwarded to Kenya, and should be sufficient to see out the end of this season.
The main question everyone will probably ask is:-
WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO THE TEAM NOW?
The most likely outcome is, like most teams in Naivasha, they will return to being a tournament team at the end of the current season, unless they can find a major sponsor in the Naivasha area.
This has been an amazing journey, and the people in the village of Karai, the school, and the town of Naivasha, will always hold a special place in our hearts.
Once again thank you to everyone, who helped to make this journey so special.
Many Regards,
Former President,
Gary Lamb. ... See MoreSee Less
We made a very long journey all the way to Oloitoktok, covering a distance of 319 km. The team left Naivasha at 1 am and made it at Kimana town in Kajiado County at 8 am where they had breakfast before proceeding for about 15 km to the match venue in Oloitoktok at Illasit Primary ground. Thanks to God for the journey mercies.
The match kicked off at 1.41pm. We conceded the 1st goal in the 30th minute. First half score,, Pizzam 1 - 0 Sunderland AFC Naivasha.
In the second half our boys did put more pressure to contain the host, but their stubborn attacks did find us again in the 57' to widen their lead.
We got a set piece in the 71' whereby a good delivery ball was set to Dickens to score a beauty. More attacks were created to get an equaliser but we seemed to have jet luck. Full time score, Pizzam 2 - 1.
From the pictures, we were received well by the host team, Pizzam. Our former head coach Martin Kiama who currently resides in Kimana had a team of friends who showed the boys the area and had a chance to visit our neighbouring country Tanzania through Kilimanjaro border point. A big thank you to his team for a great gesture to his former club by organising some meals and drinks thereafter.
The team arrived back in Naivasha today at 5 am, safe and sound. Thanks for your support. ... See MoreSee Less

Today we made the longest journey in the 1st leg this season to honour our league match against Nabore FC in Maralal, Samburu county at the Kenyatta Stadium. We arrived safely and on time.
The kick off time was delayed for 15 minutes due to rules and regulations whereby the security officers were supposed to be available before kick off time. We then proceeded to the awaited match after everything was set.
1st half ended in a barren draw, after a series of missed chances from both teams.
In the 1st half analysis, our technical bench had a chance to make their comments and corrections in preparation to get back in the 2nd half.
After getting back for 2nd half, Kelvin Njenga made a killer pass to Davy who only had to tap in to the back of the net in the 61', taking a lead in the game.
Minutes later in the 73', we again made a counter attack whereby Ken put a beautiful pass to Davy who had to beat a defender to remain one on one with the keeper whom he beat to score his brace .
Nabore FC made a comeback after scoring in the 86th minutes with only 4 minutes remaining.
Our goal keeper got a serious cut on his forehead in the 89th minute which took more than 10 minutes being attended on, after the game he had to be taken to hospital (See pictures)
This made their fans so furious that they intruded into the field of play.
Our keeper was back to his feets thereafter and the match had to go on. Before the added minutse after the normal 90 minutes, a Nabore defender made a poor tackle to Enock that the referee had to issue a red card to reduce them to a ten man squad.
Shock, and to our disbelief as the referee added 20 minutes of extra time 😂,, yeah a whole 20 minutes. But our boys were resilient to the final whistle. Full time score,
Nabore FC 1 - 2 Sunderland AFC Naivasha.
After the final whistle, as it should be, shaking hands with your opponents, instead the coach from Nabore and his technical team attacked captain Jose, not forgetting that our players are also being chased by the fans towards our bus in the parking area. The security had to escort our vehicles out of the stadium defending us from the rowdy fans. We are safe though. ... See MoreSee Less
In today's game, Tisa Boys were a better side, taking all the three crucial points. We conceded the first goal just after 6 minutes from the kick off. 20 minutes later our defenders were caught flat foot as our opponents outnumbered them in a counter attack that was successful to give them their 2nd goal. Half time score ended 0 - 2.
In the second half, our coach made some tactical changes, resting some players and introducing fresh energy, it did work as we encountered the pressure that was piling on us. Several chances were created that could bring a comeback but were not matiralized, unlucky today. We fight another day. Full time score, 0 - 2 in favour of Tisa Boys.
We thank our fans and supporters from all over the world for your endeavour support. ... See MoreSee Less
